Microtome is proud to offer our customers a comprehensive repair and recertification service (R&R™️) for all our products, ensuring that normal wear and tear or accidental damage to a pod or cassette do not put your reticles at risk, or oblige you to purchase expensive replacements.
Enhancing the Value of Ownership
Microtome’s unique R&R™ program extends the operational lifespan of your equipment, hence enhancing the value of ownership of a Microtome pod and cassette. Our R&R™ program repairs any worn or damaged product and returns it to full operational capability, whenever this is possible. This means that even severely damaged units, like the critically damaged reticle pod example, can be rebuilt and returned to production for significantly less than the cost of a new replacement. Most importantly, the recertification of every repaired cassette ensures that the original manufacturing specifications are restored, which is essential for safe reticle handling by robotic reticle handling systems.

Recertification Services
Mishandling that may not produce visible damage to a reticle pod or cassette can potentially cause distortion of the cassette assembly and put your reticles at risk of mechanical damage during robotic handling. For this reason, we recommend that any reticle pod that receives “hard handling” – with or without visible damage being caused – should be sent to us for checking and repair. Every cassette receives a new certificate of conformity to the original manufacturing specifications after R&R™, assuring you of the highest standard of protection for your valuable reticles.
Upgrade Options
As part of our commitment to continuous product improvement, Microtome offers upgrade options for older products to bring them up to a newer specification. For example, we have an option to change the orientation of the pod handle to improve the ergonomics when loading the pod onto high load ports. We have also improved the drainage of our lock mechanisms to accelerate pod drying after wet cleaning. These design changes are available as an upgrade through R&R™. This allows all Microtome customers to benefit from the latest advancements in our reticle pod technology, keeping their inventory in optimum condition and providing the best possible performance for years to come.
